When he outgrows it you would buy him a convertible carseat. You don’t turn him around until he is AT LEAST one year AND (not or) 20lb.

You don’t turn them front facing in till a year old. When he out grows it then you will buy a convertible car seat that has his right weigh limit.

Get a convertible car seat that can face forward and rear. The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends kids stay rear facing until at least age 2. My son is 2 and in a rear facing convertible.

I switched my daughter at 9 months because she hated her carrier. I got a convertable one for her. She still faces backwards but its just upright and higher weight limits. Wait until he is atleast 1 year and twenty pounds to switch him around. My daughter has this one.

A child is supposed to be in a read facing seat until 20lbs AND 1 year of age. My son is 6 1/2 months and is almost 18 lbs, his infant carrier still fits, but it’s snug and a pain to get his arms in and out of the straps. I’m actually looking at purchasing a 3 in 1 car seat that holds rear facing until 35 lbs, and forward facing from 22-50 lbs, and then it turns into a booster seat until 100 lbs. I think this concept of an all in one is great because It’s the only car seat I’ll ever need to buy. I just found one online at BJs for $85. It’s a really nice one too. The Safety First alpha omega elite. Going to buy it tomorrow after I get my paycheck.
So to answer your question, until your son is 1 year old and 20lbs, you need to keep him rear facing, which means if he’s outgrown his infant carrier, you will need a convertible carseat that will hold him rear facing for longer!
      Hope this helped….Happy Shopping!

      WHY DID I GET TD????

    • nomiscats:

The infant carrier seats are usually good until 23 pounds. That is what it says in my Graco manual for mine. You can’t turn him around until 20 pounds AND one year old. A regular car seat is able to rear face.

    • my opinion:

She didn’t ask how long to rear face. The question was how long can they be in the carrier seat which is up to 23 pounds.
