I would get a 2nd carseat to use for the first couple weeks and then switch. Safety is the #1 priority so you will need to wait until the seat is safe to use.
I own the 32lb one (like last years model)
I will try to describe this, but it might be confusing. On mine, there are 2 different places on the harness straps where they attach under the seat. Each harness has 2 slots for the metal buckle, one is about 2-3 inches above the end of the harness (top for the shoulder part, AND bottom like what part goes over the hips) and left and right. If you use those ones, it will give you about 4-6 inches tighter harnesses, then you can adjust looser accordingly as needed. Once baby gets bigger you move the clips back out to the ends of the straps.
Hope that helped a little.
There has to be a way. Have you checked the back of the seat. There are slots for the shoulder height, there should be a few. You will have to move a bar(thats what mine had) down a notch..if yours has one.
To be safest, dig out the instruction booklet. Check again, if you don’t have it, there may be a phone number on the carseat. Call it and they will tell you what you need to do. Also check to see if it was recalled, that may be a flaw in the seat.
